(climate control panel had blown bulbs. needed new bulbs, which meant soldering on new ones. surface-mount, not through-mount.)

@finn I gotta take mine in next week for work. :\

@finn Bushings in the front upper and lower control arms need to be replaced. $1300. Oof.

car, +

@breakfastgolem oh big oof, i feel you! bushes were the last service item on my car, why are they so expensive!!

car, +

@finn In my case, the bushings for the upper fronts are cheap (like $50) but the entire lower control arms need to be replaced. I also need to get a new battery soon and those're like $300 for my car. :\

@breakfastgolem i imagine german-spec car parts are more expensive in the us than equivalent us-spec parts?

car, +

@finn Yeah, generally. And "German reliability" is a total myth.

car, +

@breakfastgolem haha yep, this is something a lot of europeans refuse to accept. german chap at work is convinced of the supremacy of german cars despite the engine of his bmw eating itself.

@finn Oof, yeah. I know a guy who has an old Audi that he never got working right but he INSISTED it was going to be "the fastest on the west coast" and whatever. He let it languish in his garage after he bought a Miata. Welp.

@breakfastgolem @finn lmao an Audi, of course he never got it working right
